  2. There's nothing like having over the old love again, better love. And, boy, is the 2015 Mustang GT better than my old New Edge Mustang GT - and recent Mustang GT more that have come since then. The key to the greatness of the new Mustang is under his splendid new sheet. First there is the heart beat of ponies: a 5.0-liter V-8 that provides 435 hp and 400 Nm of torque, thanks to the old Mustang Boss 302 valves, springs, connecting rods and more. Then there are the legs: the new independent rear suspension, the first on a Mustang since the Terminator Mustang Cobras from the end of the century. Now, for what you've been waiting for: the new 2015 Mustang GT accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds, and gallops through the quarter mile in 12.8 seconds at 112.2 mph. This is just a tick slower than the last show-pack equipped 2013 Mustang GT we tested. The old model S197 model 2015 in a league run to 60 mph and complete the quarter mile a tick faster in 12.7 seconds with a trap speed of 111.7 mph. Larger brakes with six-piston Brembo front help the new Mustang to stop from 60 mph in 107 feet, three feet shorter than the outgoing model.
Although the 2015 Mustang can not separate himself from his predecessor a lot when it comes to performance straight line, thanks to the new suspension and optional performance package, the Mustang tears up on our track manipulation. The new Mustang GT rips' around the figure eight in 24.7 seconds, pulling 0.84 g average in the process. This is not only faster than the last Mustang GT (25.0 seconds at 0.77 g average), but it is also a better performance than the latest Mustang Boss 302 (24.7 seconds at 0.78 g average) we tried. Although managed a high g on average figure eight that the Boss 302 - which would still be confident calling the best Mustang ever - 2015 Mustang did not feel as agile and competent as the Boss; does not feel like the front and rear ends were talking to each other. Turning off-gas caused moderate push (understeer from the front-end), which had to be corrected with the accelerator. This, in turn, has caused a bit 'oversteer muddy, while manageable, GT slowed down a bit'. Even if this is not bad in itself, we expected a little 'more from the new Mustang IRS-equipped. So why is not the new ponycar faster than the old one, or handle, and given its power and torque bump and new suspension? One word: the weight. The new Mustang GT weighs 3814 pounds, an increase of 196 pounds over the Mustang GT we tested similarly equipped. While that extra weight is imperceptible to the road, which is raising its ugly head during handling limit and driving performance.

While the Mustang GT would not live up to expectations on the track, it more than makes up for it in the street. On the road, the new Mustang GT is perhaps the most livable again. For starters, it rides better worlds than its immediate predecessor. While the latest Mustang was easily upset by pavement imperfections and launched back and forth very poor on the sidewalk, the new Mustang just eat your way. And unlike our test-limit management have shown, the Mustang GT seems to manage quite well. Turn-in is sharp, and the steering feedback is good especially with the steering in Sport mode. The tendency of the Mustang wanted to be driven with the throttle curve is displayed while hustling cornering. Speaking of the throttle valve, the Coyote V-8 remains one of our favorite V-8s in the business with gobs of usable power and willingness to rev. If only Ford would open a bit 'more and make him sing - I'm willing to bet that an aftermarket exhaust system will be the first change in 2015 Mustang buyers do. The change is pretty wonderful too, although I found myself missing fourth gear in some way on several occasions while moving quickly. Brembo brakes also proved worthy of slow mass of Mustang, although their grabby-ness takes some 'getting used to.
